Ruby On Rails

Casa de Amigo is proud to be one of the many web applications built on the framework Ruby on Rails.
Ruby is a powerful yet extremely beautiful language that is a pleasure to learn and Rails is a robust framework that lets you build an application with very little code and has a dedicated and enthusiast community behind it.
With Rails it's almost like applications write themselves up.

jQuery

If you got into Web Development in the early days of the Internet, probably you were taught that Javascript was a second class programming language and that it brings more problems than benefits. Come mid 2000's, Ajax and a new wave of Javascript enthusiasts, John Resig among them, make us fall back in love with it. jQuery by John Resig, is a Javascript framework that lets you write interactive Ajax applications easily, beautifully and with less code, wich has garnered it a legion of fans and contribuitors that develop incredibly useful plug-ins for the framework and form one of the largest and most supportive communties we've ever been part of.

Aptana

Even though Rails is so easy to develop for, a little help from a wonderful IDE isn't to be taken lightly. It assists you in working with PHP, CSS, Javascript, Python, and they also innovate with new technologies like Jaxer.

All our inhouse terminals run Ubuntu and so does our dedicated server at Brightbox.
We've found an amicable desktop in Ubuntu that is both easy to use for everyone yet powerful and with loads of applications we couldn't live without.

GIMP

GIMP comes preinstalled with Ubuntu and meets all our needs in imaging, retouching and authoring.
There are alternatives like Photoshop, but take our word for it and give GIMP a chance: it's available for Linux, Mac OS X and Windows and it will surprise you.

Google Maps

Of course, Casa de Amigo wouldn't exist were it not for Google Maps. It lets you see your house from the sky AND it also helps you create your own startup. What more can you ask from a webapp?

Google Translate

One lesser known brother of Google Maps, this Google Service magically translate your house description when you post and ad.

Last Soundtrack

Ask any designer and they'll tell you that designing a logo is one of the hardest works in their field. Luckly for us we found this awesome font face by French artist Last Soundtrack called Bleeding Cowboys. It was love at first sight.

Firebug

If you're an Internet Power User you have to use Firefox and if you're a web developer, you have to love Firebug .

Brightbox

We needed space in a dedicated server for our Rails application and someone recommended us Brightbox in the UK. As soon as we entered their webpage we felt like home.

We've had a long relationship with Blacknight (in Internet years) and we can recommend them as a friendly and helpful domain registerer and host.
